Daniel IFAC 2026
My name is Daniel and I am from Nigeria. As a former student of the Erasmus Mundus E-PiCo master programme, I am very proud to share our recent work on "Co-Design of PINN and Control Barrier Functions for Safe, Energy-Optimal Control of Multiphase EV Drives", which I had the pleasure of presenting at the IFAC World Congress 2026, held in Busan, South Korea, on 27 August 2026.
This work was carried out within the framework of the Renault Group/Ampere – Centrale Nantes Chair on Improving the Performance of Electric Vehicles, bringing together academic research and industrial challenges in the field of electric mobility. Presenting this work at one of the major international events in the field of automatic control was a truly rewarding experience. I was particularly pleased to see the strong engagement of the audience and to receive insightful and relevant questions, reflecting the interest in the ideas and scientific contributions developed in this work.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisors and co-authors, Malek Ghanes (Centrale Nantes), Marc Bodson (University of Utah, USA), and Amir Messali (Renault Group/Ampere), for their valuable support, expertise, and guidance throughout this research. A special and heartfelt thanks goes to Prof. Malek Ghanes, who initiated the idea behind this work and provided continuous guidance from the very first discussions and development of the concept through to the final version of the paper. His scientific insight, dedication, and continuous support were instrumental in bringing this work to completion.
I am also very proud to share this achievement as a former student of the Erasmus Mundus E-PiCo Master’s programme. In many ways, this journey illustrates the excellence of the E-PiCo programme: providing students with strong scientific and technical foundations, an international academic environment, and the opportunity to pursue high-level research careers. I am grateful for the opportunity to share our research with the international control community and to contribute, through this work, to the development of innovative approaches for automatic control and the performance improvement of electric vehicles.
